The truth is…
You have been struggling for quite some time. You know something is wrong. You have sought various professionals’ opinions with a lack of improvement or maybe you are too scared to take that first step? You’ve tried many things, AND nothing seems to work. I am here to help you get unstuck, to figure it out, to finally take those steps towards living the life you deserve to be living. I will help you come to accept who you are, whatever that may be, and navigate life’s difficulties and transitions with grace. I am here to guide you through the pain, and teach you the tools you need to manage life’s big and little stressors.
My approach is…
evidence based AND practical. I am passionate about what I do and truly enjoy walking with you on this journey. As your provider, I believe the only way to help you is to have a collaborative relationship where your treatment plan is tailored specifically to your needs. I provide honest, direct, and authentic feedback, with some humor sprinkled in at times. You can expect sessions with me to be interactive and supportive, yet challenging. My goal is to help you feel better and then titrate off of treatment, with “tune-ups” as needed. I am often referred those who have not had success with previous providers. My approach has been molded by my own life experiences. Read more about me if you are curious about those experiences.
My Professional Background…
I have a Doctorate of Psychology in Clinical Psychology and am trained in treating populations with severe mental illness from diverse backgrounds in psychiatric hospital, clinical, and academic settings. My youngest client has been 5 years old and the oldest has been in their 80s. Currently, I see anyone who is 13 years old and above. Severe mental illness encompasses those with major depression, mania, psychosis, dissociation, and can co-occur with complex trauma, perinatal and postpartum issues, personality and eating disorders amongst a few others. I treat this range of mental health issues in my private practice and I have a natural gift and passion for working with those who are “outside of the box”, treatment resistant, gifted, creative, artistic, or feel “stuck” after seeing a number of mental health professionals. I enjoy the diverse presentation, the challenges that come with working with those of us who are “outside the box” and am a generalist at heart. I am a licensed clinical psychologist for the state of Texas (#38822) and a licensed Telepsycholgist who can see people virtually in 44 of the 50 states with my telehealth license.
Social Support and Your Strengths
We are beings that exist in relationship with each other. The quality of our relationships is critical for our mental and physical health and well being. Evidence demonstrates taking a strength based approach and bringing in those who are a part of our support system, can be vital in helping us to experience a breakthrough towards the next steps in healing. I consult with and provide sessions with you and anyone who is a part of your interpersonal world. Whether that be parents, other mental health providers, religious and/or spiritual advisors, and at times grandparents have been a beautiful addition to treatment plans.
